Get ready for a booming month

 

July 4, 2018: Celebration Under the Stars
 

Celebration Under the Stars is presented by the City of Murfreesboro on Wednesday, July 4. A day of family-oriented activities, fun, and fireworks await residents across the city.

Begin the day by cooling off at the SportsCom outdoor pool party from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for youth and $7 for adults.

Free evening festivities kick off at 5:00 p.m. in McKnight Park with live bands, inflatables, and other family activities. Bands include Folk/Americana band Roanoke, R&B/Soul minded Alanna Royale, 80s/90s cover band Love Cannon, and the multitalented Miles Creed. The grand culmination of the evening, the fireworks display by Pyro Shows will light up the sky starting at 9:00 p.m.

Be sure to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Pack a picnic basket or enjoy the pizza, hot dogs, and other traditional snacks and desserts offered by vendors during the event.

 

July 9-14, 2018: Movies Under the Stars presents Early Man
 

Pick your evening and come out to see Early Man with your fellow residents at one of five locations across the city. Part of the Movies Under the Stars series, the film will begin at 8:30pm each evening. Bring a blanket or a chair for seating. Make an event of it and bring a picnic or enjoy the on-site concessions. Don’t forget the bug spray! The location for each evening is:

·         Monday – Barfield Crescent Park

·         Tuesday – Cannonsburgh Village

·         Thursday – Siegel Neighborhood

·         Friday – Cason Lane Trailhead

·         Saturday – The Fountains at Gateway

 

July 20, 2018: Oaklands Summer Picnic Party
 

The annual Oaklands Summer Picnic Party will take place on the front lawn of Oaklands Mansion on July 20 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Come spend a sweet evening under the stars on the lawn of Oaklands in your casual summer attire.

Tickets are priced at $75 per person. Back by popular demand, guests will enjoy southern fried chicken and catfish by Uncle Bud’s, as well as Oaklands’ signature summer cocktail crafted by Prichard’s Distillery and live music from WOLF 359.

 

July 20 - 22, 2018: 51st Annual Murfreesboro Antique Show and Sale
 

A long-standing tradition, the 51st Annual Murfreesboro Antique Show and Sale will once again take up residence at the Middle Tennessee Convention Center July 20 to July 22. This event attracts some of the finest antique dealers and buyers from across the United States. 

If you’re a lover of or just casually interested in antiques, you will definitely want to drop in to enjoy the offerings of the many dealers at the show. Admission is $7 for a three-day pass.

 

July 28, 2018: Main Street “The Summer Party”
 

The 2018 Main Street Summer Party will take place at the beautiful and historic home of Jonathan Harmon from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Casual summer dress is encouraged for this year’s jazz-themed event. Local jazz combo Cosmic Collective will provide musical entertainment for the evening. Guests will enjoy a meal, open bar, and wonderful entertainment.

The Summer Party, otherwise known as Taste of Murfreesboro, supports the work of the Main Street program, which annually brings JazzFest, Friday Night Live, the Christmas Tree Lighting, Trick or Treat on the Square, and many other events to Murfreesboro. Tickets for the Summer Party are $50 per person and includes a meal prepared by some of the best chefs from Murfreesboro restaurants and caterers.
